First Contact - W9
I contacted Jess and got in touch about working with The Zine Project through teams. The message I sent aimed to outline the basics of my plans for the workshop and also establish that I would be able to send a full proposal if she was interested. Although Jess had mentioned to Will that she would be interested in working with me, I was nervous to message her. I felt a bit out of my depth and wasn't sure what I'd do for this placement if it didn't work out. Happily, Jess replied and we were able to set a time for a Microsoft Teams meeting next week to discuss the finer details for the workshop. I plan to send her my proposal before then and thoroughly think about what I want to get out of this placement. I am most interested in the planning and marketing of the placement, as well as the making of the Zine using the Risograph, although leading the workshop would be the most valuable experience I could gain as it is the most out of my comfort zone.
Jess also informed me that the workshop would be happening during Innovation Week in January. This makes the time frame available for the planning very short which makes me anxious to start planning with Jess right away. Although the imposed structure of Innovation Week might make it easier to plan as I feel more comfortable just adapting an already existing structure rather than having to start from scratch which would take a lot longer time.
