Instagram Posts - W13

Ever since my last meeting with Jess, I've been making Instagram posts and following a thumbnail plan I made. I think it's been useful to have it planned out so that I can just get on with making the posts on the day and posting it straight away. I have been making the posts in Procreate, which is a program that I am familiar with, so the actual making of the posts has been quick. The design of the posts all follow the theme of the original poster which makes the Instagram grid look cohesive. Additionally, I think this is effective as it creates a recognisable brand that people will begin to associate the workshop with as it continues to pop up in their feed. It also allows the workshop to feel like its own complete entity separate from the ones previously done by The Zine Project at Staffs.

Making each post has been relatively easy as I had most of them planned out, however, I did begin to run out of ideas closer to the time which lead to me not posting on the 22nd of Jan. I don't think missing this day affected the overall grid too much but it shows how I was struggling to think about what else to include. I'm not sure how I could have coped if I was tasked to post everyday for longer than just 10 days. The posts averaged around 18 likes each with the more popular posts including in-depth information plus an illustration. An example of this is the post including information on risograph printing, which has 29 likes as I'm writing this. That post included an introductory slide with an illustration of a risograph printer followed by a second slide detailing what risograph printing is. In future if I have to make Instagram posts for a project I'm working on, I think following this structure; an intro slide with an illustration and then information, will be best as its proven to be the most effective. Working on this project has helped me gain valuable information on what kind of Instagram posts are most effective for this kind of project.
