Kwanzaa Collective UK* + Workshop Opportunity - W17
During the running of the workshop, on the 25th of January, I was invited to become a part of Kwanzaa Collective Uk*. I accepted as I thought it would great for my career to be able to get support from artists in and around Staffordshire.
I was invited to attend a new members meeting which I did attend. In this meeting, it was brought up that there was an opportunity to assist at a workshop in Kidsgrove working with another artist, part of Kwanzaa Collective. I decided to take this opportunity as I've now had some experience in a workshop and I thought that as I would only be assisting I would find it more comfortable.
The workshop ended up going quite well and took place on the 14th and 15th of February. I was uncomfortable at first since it involved working with school children which I'm not used to but during the course of the workshop I ended up being okay. I have definitely found that working in a team environment where I didn't have to present in front of a group is better suited for me. I have also learnt that there are paid opportunities out there for artists and it could be something I follow up on after University. I would have never participated in this workshop if I had not done the Zine Workshop first.
