Scanning + Staring the Printing Process - W18
Under the instruction of Jim, I started the process of getting the pages ready for printing. The first step was to scan each layer of each participant's page. I did this using the scanners in the photography computer room. The process was fairly easy and after Jim showed me how to do it I was able to get the hang of it quickly. The most important parts of the process included making sure that they were scanned in and saved at a5 size, as this is how big the final zine will be. Moreover, I had to make sure that everything on the pages was included as it was difficult to get it to scan straight. It was also important for me to organise the scanned files into folders and name them efficiently so that I would be able to find them easily when I did the next step. I ended up spending the rest of the day scanning in pages which was quite a repetitive task however, I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. I am not the best with computers but when it comes to simple repetitive tasks I fair quite well. I am happy to have the help of Jim from the Print Bureau as it speeds up the process considerably having him just show me what to do instead of me figuring it out on my own.
